I am looking into the use of the iPad in my case study for EDUC 515. In this video on Apple in the classroom, I learned that the iPad promotes innovation and creative thinking to come from the student. Technology allows student to take on big project learning and will allow students to take their work home and continue to their studies anywhere. Students are going to be able to share ideas and their work easier with their friends and the teachers. Students are also going to be able to access their textbooks, which will take the pressure of keeping the book and bring it to class on a daily basis. The iPad also offers many educational tools for student success. Now many of these tools are aimed towards the elementary level to teach the basic and advance learning. However, the tools offered to the high school level are different but it also teaches students how to communicate and to become organized. In the video Apple in Education, a teacher said that, “There are no more need for Computer Labs, because it is all offered on the iPad”. I feel that there will still need to be a need for Computer Labs; even though, the iPad offers man application and functions there is still a limit to the iPad. Students are still going to need to learn how to type properly and conduct proper research. The computer can also allow students to be more creative with full versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Word/Google Drive and Apple Pages. The iPad is a great tool for student learning and in my research I am looking to learn more about its application in the classroom.
